Patterson Hood, singer, writer and guitarist from the band Drive-By Truckers assembled The Downtown 13, a musical collective made up of some Athens Georgia's finest musicians to celebrate our town's beauty and vibrant musical heritage and to protest a developer's proposed building of a 200,000 square foot mixed used development in downtown Athens, anchored by a 94,000 sq. foot Wal-Mart. Patterson wrote "After It's Gone" out of concern for the proposed development which essentially creates a second downtown, right next to our historic one (with no connectivity between them) and threatens the local businesses that have made our beautiful town so special and beloved. The Downtown 13 cull from over 30 years of Athens' legendary music scene. Featuring members of Drive-By Truckers, Widespread Panic, R.E.M., Futurebirds, Hope for Agoldensummer, Lera Lynn, Justified True Believe and The Quick Hooks. Track listing: A: After It's Gone B: (Unspoken Pretties)
